  • Diabetes doesn't define who I am, but it has brought me community in a way I never thought possible.

I have seen people share knowledge that you can't find online. Small tips and tricks that can completely change how easily one can take care of their diabetes.

  • This Betic community is a family who welcomes others with open arms.

I support someone with diabetes, I don’t live with it—but they made me feel like one of their own. I’m so grateful for the Betic Army community because I know that there is always someone in our corner.

  • Diabetes to me is having the support of a community who truly understands what it’s like to live with diabetes everyday.

With this, it has given me the privilege of growing and raising 2 incredible sons, traveling the world, advocating for others, and empowering my tribe of others that are affected by diabetes. Without the support of other diabetics, none of this would have been possible!

  • My diabetes network, has provided me a second family.

A family that understands me on a personal level and on a diabetes level. A diabetes level that my non-diabetic friends/family can comprehend or advise on.

  • Type 1 diabetes is a blessing

Upon being diagnosed as a T1D at age 13 I was certain I was cursed. That feeling continued for 2 years as I made my way through life feeling as though I was completely alone. It was difficult to explain myself and I felt that even those closest to me did not understand me.

Eventually I met other T1D’s and things began to change. Through having a Network of Diabetics the curse of T1D quickly became a BLESSING! To this day some of my closest friends are the T1D’s I met as a youth. These bonds continue to grow as does my Diabetic Network of friends!
